Description: Rare New York mahogany basin stand with original gilt stenciled leaf and fruit decoration with lift top revealing 'a bason and 2 cupholes'. Below is a door opening to compartment with drawer, flanked by gilt ring turned columns over turned feet. Attributed to Joseph Meeks & Sons, New York C.1825-1830. Provenance: "Rosedale", Columbus, Mississippi, antibellum home. Ref: Joseph Meeks & Sons Broadside of 1833, item #36. 'Classical Taste IN America 1800-1840' by Wendy A.
