Description: Antique heavy steel wire work settee or bench labeled on back "Scheeler & Sons, Buffalo, N.Y." Located at 316-32 Terrace St. Buffalo, N.Y. this company was formerly Buffalo Wire Works, and advertised 'wire goods, wirework and artistic metal work of all kinds.' Circa 1896. This elaborately designed settee or bench with the rolled crest rail, shaped seat and decorative scroll work has been professionally cleaned, primed and repainted and comes with a custom black chintz cushion. 38 inches high, 54 inches wide and 24 inches deep. Circa 1896.

Description: Antique wire work garden settee or bench in heavy steel wire. This decorative and heavy settee has been professionally cleaned and repainted. Circa 1900. 38 inches high, 54 inches wide, and 21 inches deep. Fanciful wire work furniture became very popular in the second half of the 19th century when wire work companies sold many varieties of wire pieces such as plant stands, chairs and settees, bird cages, trellis and even cradles. These pieces could be easily moved to be placed outdoors, on porches or verandas or indoors.

Description: Antique wire work rectangular form settee with wrought iron frame, of heavy crimped wire, with square back and sides decorated with scrolls and circles and sitting on square feet. Circa 1900. Heavy wire was extremely popular for many forms of garden furniture such as plant stands, tables and chairs, settees and arbors during the late 19th century into the early 20th century. This heavy garden settee has several layers of old paint. It is a good size to place in many areas to give a light airy garden look and a comfortable seat. 33 inches high, 44 inches wide and 20 inches deep.

Description: Rare set of two cast iron benches and two arm chairs after Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841) the Prussian neo-classical architect who designed this pattern for the Roman Baths in Potsdam Park in 1835. He was the architect to the King of Prussia. The design was influenced by the early Roman furniture discovered in Pompeii and Herculaneum in the 18th century. The motif of the back panel is a scrolled lyre flanked by classical winged figures. Note the ram's head arm terminals and cloven hoofed feet. Late 19th or early 20th century. Benches: 31 1/2"H. 44"W. 19"D. Chairs: 31 1/2"H. 25 1/2"W. These pieces have been professionally cleaned and repainted. A cast iron chair in this design by Schinkel is in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Description: Large cast iron bench in the Fern Pattern in old white paint. Late 19th or very early 20th century. This large bench matches the design of the fern pattern seating set #16254 on this website or can be purchased singly. It measures 33 1/2"h. and 58"W. This botanical pattern is often call Fern and Blackberry and originated in England in the 19th century and then was quickly copied by American foundries.

Description: Rare pair of antique cast iron benches in the Rustic or Twig pattern, one of the early 19th century cast iron botanical designs of oak branches and leaves and side stretchers of entwined snakes, the seat formed by long curved knotted branches. Professionally cleaned and repainted in a verdigris color. 31"H. 35'W. 24"D. A Rustic Twig bench is featured in the current Mint Museum Uptown exhibit in Norfolk, VA. "The Art of Seating", seeing chairs as works of art.

Description: Antique cast iron bench in the Curtain pattern labeled in casting "Peter Timmes'Son Brooklyn NY. Patent dated May 7, 1895." This design is a beautiful combination of Rococo, Renaissance Revival and Moorish inspiration with bold scrolls, flower medallions and skirt of interlocking hearts. 36 1/2"H. 32 1/2"W. Examples of this bench are in the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. SOLD

Description: Five piece cast iron set in the Fern and Blackberry pattern, two wide 55 inch benches and three ample arm chairs, with curved shaped seats. Early 20th century. American. This botanical pattern was originally registered in 1870 in England by the Coalbrookdale Foundry and then copied by American foundries. The Fern pattern was one of the earliest naturalistic designs. Found in southern estate. Each piece of this set has been professionally cleaned and painted gloss black. Benches 33 inches high and 55 inches wide. Chairs 33 inches high and 24 inches wide.
