LARGE CAST IRON URN, CAMPANA FORM, ANTIQUELARGE CAST IRON URN, CAMPANA FORM, ANTIQUE
Date: late 19th century
Price: Please contact us for price
Description: A large 19th century campana or bell shaped antique cast iron garden urn on original plinth or base. American. 42 inches high and 23 inches wide, and 20 square base. Two part with a egg and dart designed lip and a fluted and lobed bowl, this urn sits high on a large square decorated original plinth. This urn has been professionally cleaned and repainted a soft muted green color. This traditional form of garden urn with its upturned bell shape relates to early Greek vases from antiquity. In the 18th century plant-less urns or vases were placed with serious consideration often in the center of a garden or at intersecting paths or the end of an allee to form dramatic focal points in the garden. The beautiful form and detail of this large urn makes it a sculptural piece to draw the eye in the landscape. Price $1200.
