Inquiry about: GOTHIC PATTERN CAST IRON BENCH
Gothic pattern bench or settee in the "Gothic" pattern patented in 1846 by the Carron Foundry in Scotland and which was quickly copied by American iron foundries by 1848. The Gothic name comes from the arched design of the back. Gothic pattern benches have been listed in inventories of the White House grounds since the 1850's and are in use there today. Because of this, this design is often referred to as the White House "Rose Garden" pattern. Early 20th century. 35"H. 44"W. 21"D.
