Rare cast iron "Hall Chair" with with designs of leafage and rustic branches encircling a pierced oval of quatrefoils on the back and swirls of rustic branches on the seat. Circa 1850. Decorative designs for "Hall Chairs" appeared in American Foundry catalogs in the 1850's inspired by English cast iron work of the same period. These chairs would have been used in interiors-particularly halls and also gardens. 35"H. 23"W. Provenance: The estate "Mille Fleur", Wellfort, MA. of Pricillia Kenard Chapin.
