Description: Antique wire and wrought iron heavy garden bench with arched back, scroll work decoration and curled feet, and with remains of old flaking and crusty white paint. Most of original zinc coating or galvanizing remains on bench to prevent rusting. This bench could easily be wire brushed of old paint and repainted any color to make a decorative addition to any garden setting. 39 inches high, 46 1/4 inches wide and 19 inches deep. Late 19th or very early 20th century.

Description: Pair high back steel woven wire work garden chairs, heavy weight with large oval seats bordered with a zig zag pattern apron, on shaped legs resting on curled feet. These elegant chairs make a graphic statement in any garden, garden room or porch setting. 41 1/2 inches high, 18 inches wide and 18 inches deep. Mid 19th century in America the machines were invented to extrude heavy steel wire which was first used for fencing and then elaborate garden pieces such as chairs, tables, plant stands, trellis etc. which were extremely popular into the 20th century for use indoors and out.

Description: Exceptionally large American 19th century wire work and wrought iron garden bench decorated with a roll on top of back and arms, scrolled back, and fanned scrolls on legs, painted black. Heavy weight and a graphic design for the garden, garden room or porch. 37 inches high, 72 inches wide and 29 inches deep. Mid 19th century the iron foundries invented machines to extrude heavy wire to make fencing and then garden furniture such as settees, chairs, plant stands, trellis and even bird cages, which became extremely popular for use indoors and out.

Description: Antique wire work garden settee or bench in heavy steel wire. This decorative and heavy settee has been professionally cleaned and repainted. Circa 1900. 38 inches high, 54 inches wide, and 21 inches deep. Fanciful wire work furniture became very popular in the second half of the 19th century when wire work companies sold many varieties of wire pieces such as plant stands, chairs and settees, bird cages, trellis and even cradles. These pieces could be easily moved to be placed outdoors, on porches or verandas or indoors. $450.

Description: Antique heavy steel wire work settee or bench labeled on back 'Scheeler & Sons, Buffalo, N.Y.'Located at 316-32 Terrace St. Buffalo, N.Y.this company was formerly Buffalo Wire Works, and advertised 'wire goods, wirework and artistic metal work of all kinds.' Circa 1896. This elaborately designed settee or bench with the rolled crest rail, shaped seat and decorative scroll work has been professionally cleaned, primed and repainted and comes with a custom black chintz cushion. 38 inches high, 54 inches wide and 24 inches deep. Circa 1896.

Description: Single wire work garden chair with high back, shaped stretchers and curled feet. Late 19th century. 35 1/2 inches high 16 1/2 inches wide and 17 inches deep. $295. By the 19th century, furniture makers took advantage of technological advances in the manufacture of metal and began using reinforced steel wire first to make fencing and then to make elaborate and fancy chairs, benches, plant stands etc. that could withstand all climate conditions and were thus ideal for outdoor use. And because they were portable they were widely used from lawns to porches to interiors. Catalogs of ironwork manufacturers from the second half of the 19th century features all sorts of elaborate wire designs for plant stands, settees, bird cages and even cradles, all made of steel wire for interior and outdoor use.

Description: Exceptional and rare large set of nine antique wrought steel garden benches and matching arm chairs with scrolled arms, backs and seats, circa 1880-1900. American. These pieces are very heavy weight with riveted construction. The design blends the precise edges of the rectangular outer form with soft,flowing inner contours. Can be custom painted any color to give various looks-- antique to mod to add to any setting. The chairs are an ample size for very comfortable seating. The set consists of three benches and six matching large arm chairs, nine pieces. A smaller set of one bench and two chairs can also be purchased. This large grouping of nine pieces is a very unusual find and would provide seating for a large area.

Description: A large late 19th century campana or bell shaped antique cast iron garden urn on original plinth or base. American. 42 inches high and 23 inches wide, and 20 square base. Two part with a egg and dart designed lip and a fluted and lobed bowl, this urn sits high on a large square decorated original plinth. This urn has been professionally cleaned and repainted a soft muted green color. This traditional form of garden urn with its upturned bell shape relates to early Greek vases from antiquity. Over the centuries single large urns have often been placed in the center of a garden or at intersecting paths or the end of an allee as a dramatic focal point.

Description: Venetian Grotto chair,shell form, by Brown Jordon. Cast aluminum in original finish with impressed shell back, over upholstered slip seat and on cabriole legs. Heavy weight. Unusual and charming design. Mid 20th century. 37 inches high, 19 1/2 inches wide and 17 1/2 inches deep. $375. This chair design is based on a chair found in Pompei, Italy. It was latter called a grotto or Venetian chair in the 19th century and was made of painted pine wood and silvered in silver leaf. This Venetian chair design was a great favorite of the French artist Matisse and he painted it in many of his works. Unusual and charming. Makes a big statement! SALE $350.
