Description: Antique carved millstones or grinding wheels from grist mills where historically grain was ground into flour. These are solid stone and vary in diameter from 18-22 inches wide and vary from 3-6 inches in depth. Several available. One side is incised in a pattern and one side is plain. Perfect for decorative paving stones in garden walks and are excellent plinths for garden statuary or displaying objects in the garden. Rare finds. 18 to 22 inches wide and 3-6 inches deep. $485. each.

Description: Antique cast iron classical form bootscraper mounted in a stone block designed for the stone block to be buried in the ground near an entrance so only the cast iron is above ground for foot scraping. In the 18th and 19th centuries in America most streets were not paved so bootscrapers were a necessity to keep mud and dirt from being carried into a building. Today these early cast iron and stone block mounted bootscrapers can still be seen embedded in the front of historic buildings in Baltimore, MD., Alexandria, VA. and historic homes. Total height 11.5 inches. Stone block 5 inches high and 9 inches square. Iron scraper 6.5 high and 7 inches wide. $250
